Power Transfer Unit

- Install the new PTU to transmission compression seal.
- Install the PTU and the PTU bolts.
Torque: 66 lb.ft (90 Nm)
- If equipped with PTU cooling system, install PTU cooling system hoses and clamps.
- Install the PTU support bracket and the PTU support bracket bolts.
Torque:
PTU support bracket to block: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
PTU support bracket to PTU: 59 lb.ft (80 Nm)
- Connect the PTU vent hose.
- Install the PTU heat shield and the PTU heat shield bolts.
Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
- Connect the PTU temperature sensor.
- Install the new converter gasket.
- Install the RH converter and the new RH converter nuts. Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)
- Install the RH catalytic converter bracket through bolt. Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)
- Install the RH catalytic converter to transmission bracket bolts. Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
- Align the index-mark on driveshaft to the PTU pinion flange.
- Install the new driveshaft to PTU bolt and washer assemblies. Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
- Connect the catalyst monitor sensor.
- Connect the HO2S.
- Check the exhaust system for leaks.
- Install the RH halfshaft. Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH - 2.7L ECOBOOST (238KW 324PS), ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD) .
- Fill the PTU fluid. Refer to: Power Transfer Unit Fluid Level Check .
- Install the front subframe. Refer to:Front Subframe .
- If equipped with PTU cooling system, fill the cooling system. Refer to:Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling And Bleeding .
NOTE:
This is a tight fit, use care to not damage the transmission and PTU mating surfaces.
NOTE:
Evenly tighten the fasteners during installation.
NOTE:
Loosely install the RH catalytic converter to transmission bracket through bolt before the RH catalytic converter bracket bolts are installed.
