High-Pressure Fuel Pump Drive Unit: Installation

NOTE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
  1. Inspect the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit gasket, clean and replace the gasket as needed.

  2. Apply 8 mm dots of sealant to the camshaft bearing cap and cylinder head seam as shown.

    Material : RTV Silicone Sealant (WSE-M4G323-A6)

  3. Install the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit with the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit lower studbolt, then hand tighten the studbolt.

  4. Install and hand tighten the upper high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.

  5. Tighten the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts in the following 2 stages.

    Torque : Stage 1: Tighten to: : 20 Nm / Stage 2: Tighten an additional: : 45deg.

  6. Attach the wiring harness retainers to the high-pressure fuel pump drive unit studbolts.

  7. Connect the front cooling system hose quick connect couplings, then remove the hose clamp pliers. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling . Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s). Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp(s)

  8. Install the high-pressure fuel pump. Refer to the appropriate High-Pressure Fuel Pump service information. .
  9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling And Bleeding .
