Installation Procedure

    Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Bracket (2) - Install

  2. If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  3. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    CAUTION:

    The electronic power steering motor control module and bracket are held together by fasteners that thread into brass inserts embedded in the control module housing. Do NOT overtighten the fasteners or the brass inserts will break free from the housing resulting in unnecessary replacement of the control module.

  4. Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Power Steering Control Module (3) - Install

  6. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  7. Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Bracket Bolt (2) - Install
  8. Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Bracket Nut (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications 
  9. Install the left front wheelhouse liner. Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.

  11. Electronic Power Steering Motor Control Module Bracket Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications 
  12. Connect the 3 electrical connectors (1).

    { If equipped } Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Splash Shield (2) - Install - Underbody Splash Shield Replacement (- ULV)

  16. Perform the steering wheel angle center sensor centering procedure. Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Centering
