Shift Lock Solenoid Replacement

  1. Remove the shift lever assembly (see SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL  ).
  2. Remove the tapes and the harness wire tie from the harness.

  3. Release the lock tabs retaining the shift lock solenoid using thin-bladed screwdrivers.

  4. Insert a 6 mm (0.24 in) pin (A) into the guide hole (B), and push the shift lock solenoid (C) out.

  5. '08-10 models: Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector (D).
  6. Replace the shift lock solenoid, the shift lock solenoid plunger (E), and the plunger spring (F) as a set.
  7. Apply silicone grease to the tip (G) of the shift lock stop and the solenoid plunger.
    NOTE: Make sure not to get any silicone grease on the terminal part of the connectors and switches, especially if you have silicone grease on your hands or gloves.
  8. '08-10 models: Connect the shift lock solenoid connector.
  9. Install the shift lock solenoid by aligning the joint of the shift lock solenoid plunger with the tip of the shift lock stop, then push the shift lock solenoid into the shift lever securely.
  10. Route the harnesses along the harness guide (A), and tie the harnesses and guide with a new harness wire tie (B).

  11. Tie the harnesses together into bundles with new tape (A) in two places.

  12. Tie the harnesses and the harness clamp (B) together into a bundle with tape (C) as shown.
  13. Install the shift lever assembly (see SHIFT LEVER INSTALLATION  ).
