Hood Switch Check
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove key from cylinder. SECURITY light should flash every 2.6 seconds. Close hood, trunk lid and all doors. Lock doors with remote controller from inside vehicle. SECURITY light should illuminate for 30 seconds. Unlock hood within 30 seconds after door is locked. SECURITY light should turn off. If SECURITY light does not operate correctly, go to next step. If SECURITY light operates correctly, hood switch is okay. Check trunk room light switch. See TRUNK COMPARTMENT LIGHT SWITCH CHECK .
- Measure voltage by backprobing between terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Black wire) on SECU connector and ground. See Figure . Voltage should be zero volts with hood open and about 5 volts with hood closed. If voltages are not as specified, go to next step. If voltages are as specified, hood switch is okay. Check hood switch. See TRUNK COMPARTMENT LIGHT SWITCH CHECK .
- Perform hood switch test. See SWITCHES under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, check hood switch ground circuit and/or suspect circuit between SECU and hood switch for open or short.
