Liftgate Ajar Circuit Open

NOTE: Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS after each repair.
  1. Open liftgate. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS and monitor LIFTGATE AJAR SW state. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is CLOSED, replace Body Control Module (BCM). See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If LIFTGATE AJAR SW state is not CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect left or right liftgate ajar switch connector. See Fig 1 . Connect test light between battery positive post and liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and ground.
  3. Disconnect junction block C1 connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure resistance in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch connector terminal No. 2 and junction block C1 connector terminal No. 25. See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and junction block.
  4. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from junction block. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between junction block at rear of junction block BCM connector terminal No. 21 and junction block connector C1 terminal No. 25. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace junction block.
