Self-Diagnostic System: Introduction

NOTE: Before testing transaxle, ensure fluid level is correct and shift cables are properly adjusted. Ensure engine starts with selector lever in Park and Neutral to ensure proper adjustment of PNP switch. Transaxle must first be tested by checking for stored trouble codes. ECM monitors transaxle operation and contains a self-diagnostic system which stores trouble codes if transaxle electronic control system failure or problem exists. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) on instrument panel will illuminate to warn driver a malfunction has occurred.
