Outside Moulding: Replacement

HINT:
- The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
- On the RH side, use the same procedures as on the LH side.
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL LH
- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER SUB-ASSY
- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER EXTENSION LH
- REMOVE FRONT BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT LH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE LH STEP SUB-ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE FRONT BODY MUDGUARD LH
- Remove the 4 bolts, 3 clips and the mudguard.
- REMOVE FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION LH
- Remove the 3 bolts.
- Disengage the 12 clips and remove the opening extension.
- REMOVE FR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSY LH
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
- Using a knife, cut the adhesive tape.NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Do not damage the body.
- Remove the 10 clips and the moulding.
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).
- REMOVE RR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSY LH
- Using a drill of less than diameter 4 mm (0.16 in.), gently and vertically place the drill tip onto the rivet, and cut the rivet flanges.
HINT:
Wind the tape around the drill blade, so that the drill blade appears approx. 5.0 mm (0.20 in.) on the edge.
NOTE:- Prizing the hole with a drill can lead to damage to the rivet hole or the drill itself.
- Be careful when undertaking this task as the cut rivet is hot.
- Even if the flange is taken off, continue drilling and push cut the remaining fragment with the drill.
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
- Using a knife, cut the adhesive tape.NOTE:
- If reusing the moulding, take care not to damage the moulding.
- Do not damage the body.
- Disengage the 9 clips.
- Remove the moulding sub-assy.
- Using a drill of less than diameter 4 mm (0.16 in.), gently and vertically place the drill tip onto the rivet, and cut the rivet flanges.
- REMOVE QUARTER PANEL MOULDING SUB-ASSY OUTSIDE LH
- Remove the rear wheel.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Disengage the 5 clips.
- Remove the quarter panel moulding.
- REMOVE QUARTER PANEL MUDGUARD SUB-ASSY REAR LH
- Remove 6 bolts, a clip and mudguard.
- REMOVE ROCKER PANEL MOULDING SUB-ASSY LH
- Remove the 2 screws and the 4 clips.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the moulding.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- INSTALL FR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSY LH
- Clean the body moulding surface.
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding surface to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
- Remove the adhesive tape from the body.
- Wipe off the stain with cleaner.
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding surface to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).
- If reusing the moulding:
Clean the moulding.
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F).NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
- Remove the adhesive tape from the moulding.
- Wipe off the stains with cleaner.
- Apply new adhesive tapes to the moulding as shown in Fig 7 .
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F).
- Install the front door outside moulding sub-assy LH.
- Using a heat light, heat the body and moulding.
Heating temperature:
HEATING TEMPERATURE OF FRONT DOORBody 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F) Moulding 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F) NOTE: Do not heat the moulding and body excessively. - Remove the moulding release sheet from the moulding face.
- Align the bosses with their corresponding holes in the body, and press firmly on the moulding.
NOTE: Do not apply excessive force onto the moulding, but steady pressure with your thumbs. - Using a heat light, heat the body and moulding.
- Clean the body moulding surface.
- INSTALL RR DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSY LH
- Clean the body moulding surface.
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding surface to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).NOTE: Do not heat the body excessively.
- Remove the adhesive tape from the body.
- Wipe off the stain with cleaner.
- Using a heat light, heat the body moulding surface to 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F).
- If reusing the moulding:
Clean the moulding.
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F).NOTE: Do not heat the moulding excessively.
- Remove the adhesive tape from the moulding.
- Wipe off the stains with cleaner.
- Apply new adhesive tapes to the moulding as shown in Fig 8 .
- Using a heat light, heat the moulding to 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F).
- Install the moulding.
- Using a heat light, heat the body and moulding.
Heating temperature:
HEATING TEMPERATURE OF REAR DOORBody 40 - 60°C (104 - 140°F) Moulding 20 - 30°C (68 - 86°F) NOTE: Do not heat the Body and moulding excessively. - Align the bosses with their corresponding holes in the body, and press firmly on the moulding.
NOTE: Do not apply excessive force onto the moulding, but steady pressure with your thumbs. - Using a heat light, heat the body and moulding.
- Using an air riveter or hand riveter with nose piece, strike the rivets into the door panel to install the rear door outside moulding to the door panel.NOTE:
- If the rivet is not positioned perpendicularly, it will bend the mandrel.
- When the trigger is then pulled, it may damage riveter.

NOTE:- Do not prize a riveter, because the riveter will be damaged and the mandrel will be bent.
- Do not tilt the riveter when removing the rivet, because the materials are not tightened firmly.
- Install the rivet while attaching the materials, because they are not tightened firmly.
- Clean the body moulding surface.
