Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL FUNCTION 
    1. Check the wireless door lock control functions (see OPERATION CHECK (2006/02-2006/07)  ).

      OK: Each function of wireless door lock control system operates normally using transmitter switch. 

    OK: END 

    NG: GO TO Next Step 

  2. CHECK THAT TRANSMITTER LED ILLUMINATES 
    1. Check that the transmitter's LED illuminates 3 times when the switch is pressed 3 times.

      OK: Transmitter's LED illuminates 3 times when switch is pressed 3 times. 

    NG:  GO TO step  4

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  3. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL FUNCTION (STANDARD OPERATION) 
    1. Check standard LOCK / UNLOCK switch operation.
      NOTE: Standardized test procedure: press the transmitter switch for 1 second, directing the beam to the driver side door outside handle from a distance of 1 m (3.28 ft.). The transmitter should be pointed directly at the handle, i.e. at a 90° angle to the vehicle body.

    NG:  GO TO step  5

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  4. CHECK TRANSMITTER BATTERY (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the transmitter battery with a new or normally functioning one (see REMOVAL  ).
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked by using the transmitter LOCK / UNLOCK switch.

      OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    NG: REPLACE DOOR CONTROL TRANSMITTER 

    OK: END (TRANSMITTER BATTERY IS DEFECTIVE) 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (CERTIFICATION ECU - DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER) 
    1. Disconnect the U28 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the U36 receiver connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      U28-39 (RSSI) - U36-5 (RSSI) Below 1 Ω
      U28-38 (RDA) - U36-3 (DATA)

      U28-39 (RSSI) or U36-5 (RSSI) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U28-38 (RDA) or U36-3 (DATA) - Body ground
      U28-29 (RCO) or U36-2 (+5) - Body ground

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  6. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SUPPLY VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the U36 receiver connector.

    2. Measure the voltage of the ECU.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U28-29 (RCO) - Body ground 4.6 to 5.4 V

    NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  7. CHECK DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER (OUTPUT) 
    1. Reconnect the U36 receiver connector.
    2. Measure the voltage between the terminal of the connector and body ground.

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

      U36-3 (DATA) - Body ground Power switch OFF, all doors closed and transmitter switch not pressed 10 to 14 V
      Power switch OFF, all doors closed and transmitter switch pressed Pulse generation

    NG: REPLACE DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER (See  REMOVAL   ) 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  8. CHECK AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (GLASS ANTENNA) 
    1. Visually inspect the entire glass antenna's lines for breaks.

    2. Using the tester, check that the glass antenna's lines do not have continuity breaks.

      NOTE:
      • Wrap a piece of tin foil around the tip of the negative (-) tester probe as shown in the illustration. Press the foil against the antenna's lines with your finger without damaging the antenna, and inspect the antenna.
      • If foreign matter on the glass needs to be cleaned, use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the glass along the antenna's lines without damaging the antenna.
      • Do not use standard detergents or glass cleaners.
      1. Move the tin foil wrapped probe along the antenna's lines, and check for line breaks.

        OK: Based on visual inspection and tester inspection, antenna line breaks are not present.

    NG: REPAIR AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  9. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER - AMPLIFIER ANTENNA) 
    1. Disconnect the U36 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the U38 antenna connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE CHART

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U36-7 (ANT) - U38-1 (ANT) Below 1 Ω
      U36-7 (ANT) or U38-1 (ANT) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  10. CHECK AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the amplifier antenna with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked by using the transmitter LOCK / UNLOCK switch.

      OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    OK: END (GLASS ANTENNA IS DEFECTIVE) 

    NG: GO TO Next Step 

  11. CHECK DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the door control receiver with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked by using the transmitter LOCK / UNLOCK switch.

      OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    OK: END (DOOR CONTROL RECEIVER IS DEFECTIVE) 

    NG: GO TO Next Step 

  12. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (OPERATION) 
    1. Temporarily replace the certification ECU with a new or normally functioning one.
    2. Check that the doors can be locked and unlocked by using the transmitter LOCK / UNLOCK switch.

      OK: Doors can be locked and unlocked with transmitter. 

    NG: REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU RH 

    OK: END (CERTIFICATION ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
