Front Airbag Sensor: Installation

  1. INSTALL FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR 
    1. Check that the engine switch is off

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
      CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    3. Temporarily install the front airbag sensor with the 2 claws and pin

    4. Install the front airbag sensor with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 9.0 N*m (92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • If the front airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace it with a new one.
      • When installing the front airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.
      • Make sure that the pin is securely inserted into the body hole.
      • Tighten the bolt while holding the front airbag sensor because the front airbag sensor claws and pin (stopper) are easily damaged.

    5. Connect the connector to the front airbag sensor
      NOTE: When connecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    6. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the front airbag sensor.
  2. INSTALL HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (for LH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  5. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH (for RH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (for RH Side)  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE PROTECTOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. ADD WASHER FLUID (w/ Headlight Cleaner System)  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  12. ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIMING 
    1. Adjust headlight aiming (See ADJUSTMENT ).
  13. ADJUST FOG LIGHT AIMING 
    1. Adjust fog light aiming (See ADJUSTMENT ).
  14. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Inspect the SRS warning light (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM  ).
