Section 16 (Air Conditioning): Condenser: Removal

  1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (See  REPLACEMENT   ) 
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  3. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT DISCHARGE HOSE 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose from the cooler condenser.
    2. Remove the O-ring from the discharge hose.
      NOTE: Keep the system free from moisture or foreign matter.

      HINT:

      Cover the openings of the hoses with vinyl tape immediately after disconnecting.

  6. DISCONNECT COOLER REFRIGERANT LIQUID PIPE A 
    1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the liquid pipe from the cooler condenser.
    2. Remove the O-ring from the liquid pipe.
      NOTE: Keep the system free from moisture or foreign matter.

      HINT:

      Cover the openings of the hoses with vinyl tape immediately after disconnecting.

  7. REMOVE COOLER CONDENSER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 radiator upper supports.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts. Then slide the upper part of the radiator rearward to remove the cooler condenser.
    3. Remove the bolt and bracket.
