System Tests: Notes

WARNING: Vehicle may be equipped with side air bags. Before testing or repairing components around driver's and passenger's seats, disable side air bags. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected or modules are replaced, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: The following system tests only apply to vehicles with memory mirrors. If testing power mirror system without memory, test individual components and check wiring. See COMPONENT TESTS  and WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
NOTE: Before beginning any testing, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
NOTE: Test procedures are written specifically for New Generation Star (NGS) tester. Generic scan tools may not have the capability of performing all the same functions. Refer to scan tool manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: Many steps in the following tests refer to various connectors. These connectors are identified in illustrations under CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . See Figure -Figure .
NOTE: After repairs are complete, ensure all component are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly and repeat data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article.
