PINPOINT TEST 7 PANIC FEATURE IS INOPERATIVE/DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY
STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1 VERIFY OPERATION OF THE HORN
  • Key ON, Engine OFF (KOEO).
  • Operate the horn through the steering wheel switch.
  • Does the horn operate correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No To diagnose the inoperative horn, See PINPOINT TEST 1: THE HORN DOES NOT SOUND .
2 VERIFY THE PARKING LAMP OPERATION
  • Turn on the parking lamps with the headlamp switch.
  • Do the parking lamps operate correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No To diagnose for inoperative parking lamps, See PINPOINT TEST 2: ONE OR MORE STOPLAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE .
3 CHECK THE HORN OPERATION FROM THE SJB
  • Connect the WDS diagnostic tool or equivalent Tester.
  • Activate the horn active command for one second.
  • Does the horn operate? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Go to step 7.
4 CHECK THE PARKING LAMP OPERATION FROM THE SJB
  • Activate the parking lamps active command for five seconds.
  • Do the parking lamps operate? 
Yes Go to next step.
No Go to step 7.
5 CHECK THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER OPERATION
  • Unlock and lock the doors using the remote transmitter buttons.
  • Do the doors lock and unlock correctly? 
Yes Go to next step.
No To diagnose the inoperative remote transmitter, See PINPOINT TEST 5: THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK USING THE KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE TRANSMITTER  .
6 CHECK THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER SIGNAL TO THE SJB
  • Read the SJB REMOTE TRANSMITTER SIGNAL PID while pressing the panic button on the remote transmitter.
  • Do the PID values agree with the button presses? 
Yes Go to next step.
No REPLACE the remote transmitter. REPROGRAM all the remote transmitters. See REMOTE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
  • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present? 
Yes INSTALL a new SJB. See SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
