Shift Cable And Bracket Removal / Installation

Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the steering column.
1. Disconnect the shift cable from the transmission column shift selector tube.
2. Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column bracket.
Push the rubber grommet and shift cable through the bulkhead.
With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See LIFTING .
Disconnect the selector cable from the locking clip.

Remove the transmission selector lever cable from the manual lever.

Remove the selector lever clip and remove the cable from the bracket.

Remove the transmission selector lever cable bracket from the automatic transmission.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Tightening torque 40 Nm {4.1 kgf-m, 30 lb-ft}
- Move manual lever into overdrive (O/D) range.
- Adjust the transmission shift cable. See SHIFT CABLE AND BRACKET ADJUSTMENT
