Steering column adjustment normalization, function - GF46.15-P-3002R

MODEL 230

Function

During the normalization procedure, the steering column is moved to the mechanical stops of the steering column adjustment motor group (M20)  and the corresponding software stops are stored in the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10)  .

The steering column must be normalized before the vehicle is driven for the first time, after the limp-home function has been triggered, and after a reset conducted during diagnosis.

IMPORTANT The driver-side SAM control module (N10/10)  has a nonvolatile memory so that the set positions are not deleted even if the vehicle battery is disconnected.

Normalization of steering wheel height adjustment

The steering column is moved manually to the upper stop by pressing the steering column adjustment raise/lower, forward/back switch (S59/1s1)  .

Normalization of steering wheel longitudinal adjustment

The steering column is moved manually to the front stop by pressing the steering column adjustment raise/lower, forward/back switch (S59/1s1)  .

IMPORTANT If the steering column movement is stiff or if it is blocked  , the driver-side SAM control module (N10/10)  stores the current position as the new software stop. The limp-home function  is still available.
