Automatically-controlled all-wheel drive (4MATIC) in general

The automatically controlled all-wheel drive (4MATIC) is a permanent all-wheel drive with interaxle differential. Integration of the transfer case in the A/T reduces the teeth engagement and realizes an optimized lubrication concept. The base blocking torque of 50 Nm serves to improve traction at low engine torque and reduce drive-line vibration. The fixed drive torque distribution is 45 % at the front axle and 55 % at the rear axle. The drive torque is distributed via a single-speed transfer case without off-road ratio to the drive axles (drive train).
