Air Conditioning Unit: Removal

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (See REPLACEMENT )
- DISCONNECT NO. 1 COOLER REFRIGERANT SUCTION HOSE
- Install SST on the piping clamp.

HINT:
Confirm the correct direction of the piping clamp claw and SST by checking the illustration on the caution label.
- Push down SST and release the clamp lock.NOTE: Be careful not to deform the tube when pushing SST.
- Pull SST slightly and push the release lever, and then remove the piping clamp with SST.
- Disconnect the cooler refrigerant suction hose.NOTE:
- Do not use a screwdriver or similar tool to disconnect the hose.
- Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering them.
- Remove the 2 O-rings from the cooler refrigerant suction hose.
- Install SST on the piping clamp.
- DISCONNECT COOLER REFRIGERANT LIQUID PIPE

HINT:
Disconnection of the cooler refrigerant liquid pipe is the same as for the cooler refrigerant suction hose.
- DISCONNECT HEATER WATER INLET HOSE
- Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip.
- Disconnect the heater water inlet hose.
- DISCONNECT HEATER WATER OUTLET HOSE
HINT:
Disconnection of the heater water outlet hose is the same as for the heater water inlet hose.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER
- Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly upper (see REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
- Remove the instrument panel sub-assembly lower (see REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE ECM (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Detach the 2 claws and remove the heater to register duct.
- REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY LOWER
- Detach the 2 claws and remove the defroster nozzle assembly lower.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE CENTER
- Remove the 2 bolts and instrument panel to cowl brace center.
- REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the clip and fold the floor carpet back.
- Disconnect the 4 clamps and disconnect the wire harness.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
- Disconnect the 2 clamps and disconnect the wire harness.
- Detach the 2 claws and disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 3 bolts, nut, screw and instrument panel to cowl brace sub-assembly.
- REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUBASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the 2 clamps and separate the wire harness.
- Disconnect the clamp and separate the antenna cord sub-assembly.
- Remove the bolt, nut and instrument panel brace.
- REMOVE AIR DUCT
- Remove the connectors from the air duct and disconnect the connector.
- Remove the screw.
- Detach the 2 claws and remove the air duct.
- REMOVE BLOWER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 connectors.
- Remove the 2 nuts and the air conditioning radiator.
