Door Operating Circuit Test

  1. Disconnect electrical connector from headlight door motor. Crank headlight doors by hand. If doors open and close, go to step 2). If doors do not open and close, repair door assembly.
  2. Ensure that twilight sentinel is off. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. Enter diagnostics and select BCM input BI78. Place headlight switch in "OFF" position. BCM should display "LO". Place headlight switch in "HEAD" position. BCM should display "HI". If BI78 displays correctly, go to step 3). If BI78 does not display correctly, check/repair left combination switch assembly or BCM.
  3. Remove headlight door relay "A" from underhood relay center. Place test light between terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and ground. If light glows, go to step 4). If light does not glow, repair or replace fusible link, Red wire and headlight door relay fuse No. 2.
  4. Place test light between terminal No. 1 (Red wire) and terminal No. 2 (Black wire). If light glows, go to step 5). If light does not glow, repair Black wire.
  5. Place test light between terminal No. 3 (Yellow wire) and terminal No. 2 (Black wire). Place headlight switch in "HEAD" position. If light glows, go to step 6). If light does not glow, repair or replace the Yellow wire from the light switch and twilight sentinel headlight relay "G".
  6. Reinstall headlight door relay in position "A" of underhood relay center. Disconnect electrical connector from headlight door motor. Place test light between terminal "A" (Gray wire) and terminal "B" (Light Green wire) of male connector. If light glows, go to step 7). If light does not glow, check Gray wire and Light Green wire for opens. If wires are okay, replace headlight door relay "A".
  7. Place test light between terminal "B" (Light Green wire) and terminal "C" (Dark Blue wire). If light glows, go to step 8). If light does not glow, see HOLD-OPEN CIRCUIT TEST  .
  8. Repair or replace headlight door motor.
