Front Differential Assembly: Installation

Install the differential assembly to the torque converter clutch case.
CAUTION: Do not damage the inside of the torque converter clutch case (particularly, the differential side retainer contact surface).

Install the O-rings from left and right side retainer.
Using ST, install the side retainers. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Front Differential Assembly. >
ST 499787000 WRENCH ASSY
Adjust the front differential backlash. < Ref. to ADJUSTMENT , Front Differential Assembly. >
Install the lock plate.
Tightening torque: 25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)

Install the new seal pipe to the converter case.

Install the converter case to transmission case. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Converter Case. >
Insert inhibitor switch and transmission connector into stay.

Install oil cooler pipes. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , ATF Cooler Pipe and Hose. >
Install the oil charge pipe with O-ring. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Oil Charge Pipe. >
Insert the input shaft while rotating it lightly by hand, and then check the protrusion amount.
Normal protrusion amount A: 50 - 55 mm (1.97 - 2.17 in)

Install the torque converter clutch assembly. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Torque Converter Clutch Assembly. >
Install the transmission assembly to the vehicle. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Automatic Transmission Assembly. >
