Inspection Procedure

  1. INPUT SIGNAL CHECK 
    1. See input signal check PRE-CHECK .
    2. Check the indicator light operation when each of the SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL and CANCEL is turned on.

      Standard: 

      SET/COAST, RESUME/ACCEL switch 

      The signals shown in the table on the left should be output when each switch is ON. The signal should disappear when the switch is turned OFF. 

      CANCEL switch 

      The indicator light goes off when the cancel switch is turned ON. 

    1. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (CCS) 
    1. Remove the ECU with connector still connected.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure voltage between terminal CCS (C15-11) of cruise control ECU connector when main switch is held ON and OFF.

      VOLTAGE CHECK

      Main Switch Voltage
      OFF 10 - 14 V
      ON Below 0.5 V
    1. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. INSPECT CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove steering wheel center pad. See OVERHAUL .
    2. Disconnect the control switch connector.
    3. Check continuity between terminals 4 and 5 of control switch connector when main switch is held ON and OFF.

      Standard:

    1. NG: REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the spiral cable connector.
    2. Measure continuity between terminals A2 (CCS) and B2 (CCS) of spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Standard: Continuity 

    3. Measure continuity between terminals A3 (ECC) and B3 (ECC) of spiral cable sub-assembly connector.

      Standard: Continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND BODY GROUND)  See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN CRUISE CONTROL ECU AND CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH)  See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY  See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
