Inspection Procedure

  1. INPUT SIGNAL CHECK 
    1. See input signal check PRE-CHECK .
    2. Check the indicator light when the brake pedal is depressed.

      Standard: The indicator light goes off when the brake pedal is depressed.

    1. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that stop light comes on when brake pedal is depressed, and turns off when brake pedal is released.
    1. NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR AND STOP LIGHT SWITCH)  See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN CRUISE CONTROL ECU AND STOP LAMP SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the ECU with connectors still connected.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Measure voltage between terminal STP (C15-3) of cruise control ECU connector and body ground, when the brake pedal is depressed and released.

      Standard: 

      VOLTAGE CHECK

      Brake Pedal Condition Voltage
      Depressed 10 - 14 V
      Released Below 1 V
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY  See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE .
