How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

Troubleshoot in accordance with the procedure on the following pages.

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
  2. SYMPTOM CHECK 
  3. INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF LARGE-SCALE MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN) 
    1. Check that there is no abnormality in the communication system by inspecting the communication function of the multiplex communication system with the hand-held tester.
      1. (ECU unconnected, communication line abnormal) Without code output, proceed to A.
      2. (ECU unconnected, communication line abnormal) With code output, proceed to B.
    1. B: GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SECTION 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  4. DIAGNOSIS CODE CHECK (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ) 
    1. Check diagnosis code.
      1. Without code output, proceed to A.
      2. With code output, proceed to B.
    1. B: GO TO PTC CHART (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ) 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (See  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
    1. Without applicable symptoms, proceed to A.
    2. With applicable symptoms, proceed to B.
    1. B: GO TO SYMPTOMS TABLE 
    2. A: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  6. PERFORM TROUBLESHOOTING IN THE FOLLOWING METHOD, DEPENDING 0 MALFUNCTION SYMPTOM 
    1. Pre-inspection (See PRE-CHECK )
      1. Inspection with the hand-held tester (ECU DATA MONITOR)
    2. ECU terminal position
  7. ADJUSTMENT, REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT
