Installation Procedure

    Steering Column (1) - Install

    CAUTION:

    Fastener Caution .

    Steering Column Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install the wiring harness clip to the steering column fastener stud. (1)

  4. Connect the electrical connectors.

    WARNING:

    When installing the (upper) intermediate steering shaft to the steering column, do NOT overextend the shaft or force the shaft onto the steering column. Overextending or forcing the intermediate steering shaft could damage the shaft and/or the steering column resulting in a loss of steering and possible bodily injury.

    Upper Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Steering Column - Install

    If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
  7. Intermediate Steering Shaft Upper Bolt (1) @ Steering Column - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications 
  8. Remove the device used to prevent steering column rotation.

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket (1) - Install

    Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    WARNING:

    When removing, handling or installing this component wear protective gloves. The sharp edges on the component may be very sharp and may cause injury.

    Connect the electrical connector.

  12. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster (1) - Install

    Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Retainer (3) - Install

  14. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  15. Hood Primary Latch Release Cable Handle (1) - Install

    Insert the edge of the instrument panel outer trim cover (1) into the front side door weather-strip.

    Ensure the steering wheel airbag coil is CENTERED during installation. Steering Wheel Airbag Coil Centering

  19. Install the turn signal switch bracket and steering wheel airbag coil together as an assembly (1).

    Engage the left and right turn signal switch bracket retaining tabs (1).

  21. Ensure the tabs on the turn signal switch bracket are fully engaged.

    Turn Signal Switch (1) - Install

    Turn Signal Switch Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications 

  24. Connect the electrical connector. (3)

    Connect the electrical connector. (1)

  26. Engage the wiring harness clips (2).

    NOTE:

    Maneuver the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover around the steering column tilt and telescoping lever as necessary.

    Position the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover (1) on the steering column.

    Instrument Panel Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

    Install the instrument panel steering column upper trim cover (1) to the instrument panel steering column lower trim cover.

    Steering Wheel (1) - Install

  33. Steering Wheel Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Connect the electrical connector.

  35. Install any connector position assurance (CPA) devices or secondary locks.
  36. WARNING:

    After installation of the steering wheel airbag module to the steering wheel, slightly pull the module outward. If there is no give on the airbag module then it is secured correctly. If the airbag module is not fully attached personal injury could result.

    Install the left and right steering wheel airbag access hole covers (1).
