Using Jumper Wire

  1. Turn ignition on. Install Jumper Wire (SST 09843-18040) between terminals No. 4 and 13 on DLC3. See Fig 1. Note display operation of Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) on instrument panel. MIL may also be referred as CHECK ENGINE light.
  2. Normal code and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 12 will be displayed by MIL. See Fig 2. If a problem exists in engine immobilizer system, a DTC 99 will be displayed by MIL. If DTC 99 is displayed, proceed to TROUBLE SHOOTING SYMPTOMS  table under TROUBLE SHOOTING to repair by symptom.
  3. Remove jumper wire. Once all repairs are performed, clear DTCs from Engine Control Module (ECM). See CLEARING CODES .
  4. If MIL fails to operate when jumper wire is installed, check wiring between terminals No. 4 (White/Black wire) and No. 13 (Pink/Black wire). For ECM terminal identification, see Figure.
